Meningkatkan Penguasaan Kosa Kata Siswa Kelas Tujuh SMP Negeri 4 Sigi Menggunakan Lirik Lagu Pop Bahasa Inggris

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of English pop song lyrics can improve vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sigi. The researcher used pre-experimental design with fifteen students that selected by using purposive sampling technique. The experimental group was treated by applying English pop song lyrics. The instruments of data collection were tests, they were pre-test and post-test. The result of data analysis showed there was a significant improvement between students’ score of pretest and posttest after being treated by the treatment. It can be seen at the mean score of pretest was 41.02 and the mean score of posttest was 75.04. The t-table for df(14) is 1.761 while the t-counted was 4.67. In conclusion, applying English pop song lyrics is affective to improve vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sigi.
