Meningkatkan Penguasaan Kosakata Siswa Kelas Tujuh Di SMP Negeri 4 Sindue Melalui Kata Dinding

The objective of this research is to investigate the use of Word Wall technique in improving students' vocabulary mastery of the seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Sindue. This research used quasi-experimental research design. The researcher used total sampling technique. The samples of this research were VII B as the experimental group and VII A as the control group. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test for both groups. The pre-test was used to find out the students' vocabulary before the treatment, while the post-test was used to measure the students’ progress after the treatment. The result of data analysis indicated that the pre-test mean score of the experimental group was 41.23 and the post-test mean score was 78.42. Meanwhile, the pre-test mean score of the control group was 45.67 and the post-test mean score was 63.83. Based on the result of both groups, the researcher found that the t-counted value was 6.45. By applying degree of freedom (df) 37 and 0.05 level of significance, it was found that the value of t-table was 2.0273. The data indicate that the t-counted is higher than the t-table. It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. Thus, the use of Word Wall technique is effective in improving students’ vocabulary mastery of the seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Sindue.
