Mar’atul Azizah, A12119057. “The Use of Small Group Discussion in Developing Reading Comprehension of The Eighth Grade Students of SMP IT Bina Anak Bangsa”, A skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language University, Under Supervision of Jamiluddin and Anjar Kusuma Dewi.
The objective of this study is to find out whether Small Group Discussion can develop reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP IT Bina Anak Bangsa. The researcher applied pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design. The research population was the eighth grade students of SMP IT Bina Anak Bangsa consisting of 30 students. The sample was obtained by using total sampling technique. The data were collected using tests, pre-test and post-test, and analyzed statistically. The result of this study showed that there is significant differences of students’ reading comprehension after being taught through small group discussion where the data analysis show that value of t-counted (7,95) is higher that the value of t-table (1.699) by applying a significance level of 0.05 with a degree of freedom (df) = 29. It means that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, Small Group Discussion can develop reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP IT Bina Anak Bangsa. In addition Small Group Discussion could be used to improve class situasion.
