The distribution of doctors in Indonesia is an important issue in health services. Inequality in the distribution of doctors, both general practitioners and specialists, in remote and rural areas prompted this study to analyze the distribution pattern of doctors, including general practitioners, pediatricians, surgeons, obstetricians and gynecologists, anesthesiologists, dentists, and dental specialists. This study uses the Agglomerative Nesting (AGNES) method to see the characteristics and determine the optimum cluster. The AGNES method is effective for clustering analysis, able to capture the hierarchical structure of data, and handle various types of data with various distance sizes. The results showed that the optimum cluster produced four clusters, namely cluster 1 with a “high†level of distribution of the medical profession, cluster 2 with a “medium†level of distribution of the medical profession, cluster 3 with a “very low†level of distribution of the medical profession, and cluster 4 with a “low†distribution of the medical profession and dominant in variable X7 (Specialist Dentist). The cophenetic correlation coefficient value is 0.9797, indicating high validity.
