Abstract

Infectious diseases are still an unsolved problem in the development of the health sector in Indonesia. Infectious diseases occur due to interactions between disease agents that can be transmitted directly through physical contact. Infectious diseases directly in Indonesia often claim lives. Efforts to improve control of the spread of infectious diseases directly can be done by forming a grouping of provinces in Indonesia. In this study provinces in Indonesia were grouped based on direct infectious diseases using Spatial ‘K’luster Analysis by Tree Edge Removal (SKATER). The SKATER method is good to use in seeing spatial patterns whether or not there is an influence between neighboring regions in the process of grouping each province. The grouping results obtained as many as 3 clusters which indicate a spatial grouping based on direct infectious disease variables. Cluster 1 consists of twenty-eight provinces with low direct infectious disease rates, cluster 2 consists of one province with high direct infectious disease rates, cluster 3 consists of five provinces with moderate direct infectious disease rates.
