The aim of this research is to find out whether or not the application of the direct
interaction strategy can improve the reading comprehension of class X students at
SMA NEGERI 5 Palu. This research uses a quasi-experimental research design
with the experimental group and the control group. The population of this study
was class X students at SMA Negeri 5 Palu. The research sample used a cluster
random sampling technique. Class X MIPA 1, totaling 33 students, was the
experimental group and Class X MIPA 2, totaling 33 students, was the control
group. The experimental group was given treatment while the control group was
not. The test results showed that the average score of the experimental group on
the post-test was 83.33 greater than the average score of the control group on the
post-test of 63.03. These results also show that the t-count of 5.32 is higher than
the t-table of 1.670 and the hypothesis is accepted. This confirms that the direct
interaction strategy improves students' reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 5
Palu.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan strategi interaksi
langsung dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas X
SMA NEGERI 5 Palu. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuasi
eksperimen dengan kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Populasi
penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 5 Palu. Sampel penelitian
menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Kelas X MIPA 1 yang berjumlah
33 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas X MIPA 2 yang berjumlah 33
siswa sebagai kelompok kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen diberi perlakuan
sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata
kelompok eksperimen pada post-test sebesar 83,33 lebih besar dari nilai rata-rata
kelompok kontrol pada post-test sebesar 63,03. Hasil ini juga menunjukkan
bahwa t-hitung sebesar 5,32 lebih tinggi dari t-tabel sebesar 1,670 dan hipotesis
diterima. Hal ini menegaskan bahwa strategi interaksi langsung meningkatkan
pemahaman membaca siswa di SMA Negeri 5 Palu.
