Abstract

Mahogany is one of the trees with high economic value because of the many benefits produced to
synthesize the growth of planted seedlings, organic compost can be added made from banana stems.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of banana stem compost on planting media on the growth
of mahogany seedlings (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq). The study was conducted for three months, from January
to April 2022, located in the area of the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Tadulako. The study used a
complete randomized design method (RAL), which consisted of 4 treatments with 8 replications. The
observation parameters are an increase in the height of the seedling, the diameter of the stem and the number of
leaves. Next, analysis of variance or f test is carried out. Fingerprint analysis showed that the administration of
various doses of banana stem compost had a significant effect on the increase in the number of leaves, while the
growth in height and diameter of the seedlings had no noticeable effect. Based on further dmrt tests, it was
shown that the average number of mahogany seedling leaves in the K3 treatment was 3.13 strands, in fact, in
contrast to the K0 treatment, which was 1.13 strands and K1, which was 2.50 strands, while the K2 treatment of
2.88 strands did not provide a noticeable difference. Furthermore, the treatment of K2 and K3 there is a tendency
to provide higher height and diameter gain of seedlings with K0 and K1
