Abstract

Beuveria basiana is a microscopic fungus with a body shaped like fine threads (hyphae).. The
aim of this study was to compare the various concentrations of B. bassiana conidia on mortality
and feeding inhibition of Spodoptera exigua larvae. This research was conducted in the Pest
Laboratory and in the Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University
from February to June 2020. This research was arranged in a completely randomized design
(RAl), with 5 treatment units and 5 replications, so that 25 experimental units were obtained. The
data from the observations were analyzed using analysis of diversity (ANOVA) and if it showed
a significant effect, it was then tested using the BNJ level of 5%. Based on the results of this
study, it shows that the concentration level of the fungus conidia B. bassiana has a significant
effect in reducing mortality and feeding inhibition of Spodoptera exigua larvae. During 5 days of
observation, the highest mortality was found at a concentration of 109
/ ml with a mortality
percentage of 20% and the lowest inhibition of eating was at a concentration of 107
/ ml with a
percentage of 19.44%. This shows that the fungus is quite effective as a biological agent in
suppressing S. exigua larvae.
