Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding curcuma extract (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) on commercial feed on the growth and survival of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fry. The organism used in this research was tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fry with an average weight of 1.55 grams, 200 of them were obtained from Dolo District. This study was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments with five replications, so that there were 20 units of the experimental unit. Treatment A: Without administration of curcuma extract; Treatment B: Curcuma extract 4 g/kg of feed; Treatment C: curcuma extract 8 g/kg of feed; Treatment D: Extract ginger 12g/kg of feed. Curcuma extract that has been prepared is then put into a spray bottle according to a predetermined dose. Feed given each treatment in the form of artificial feed with the addition of curcuma extract according to their respective treatment in an ad libitum. The biomass and length of the test organism are weighed at the beginning and end so that they can know the initial and final weight (weight) of the test. Water quality measurements start from temperature and pHonce a week and are carried out in the morning and evening, then ammonia and dissolved oxygen were measured at the beginning and end of the study. The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect (P ? 0.05) on the growth of absolute weight of tilapia fry. The highest percentage of absolute weight growth in tilapia fish was obtained from the administration of a 12 g dose of curcuma extract of 1,423 g, where the highest survival rate of tilapia was obtained in treatment D which was 94%.
