ABSTRAK
Bencana alam berupa gempa bumi, tsunami dan likuifaksi yang terjadi di Kota Palu pada tanggal 28
September 2018 telah mengakibatkan dampak kerusakan dan juga korban jiwa yang sangat besar. Berdasarkan
kejadian tersebut Pemerintah Kota Palu berinisiatif untuk melakukan pencegahan berupa perbaikan tanah agar
mengurangi dampak kerusakan yang ditimbulkan jika kejadian serupa terjadi di masa depan. Studi ini bertujuan
untuk mengetahui seberapa besar efektifitas drainase kerikil horizontal dalam mereduksi deformasi tanah yang
diakibatkan oleh likuifaksi sebagai alternatif pencegahan yang memenuhi syarat teknik maupun ekonomis.
Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan shaking table yang diisi pasir jenuh untuk menciptakan simulasi
likuifaksi. Pemodelan drainase horizontal menggunakan kerikil yang diletakan ke dalam pasir dengan kedalaman
yang berbeda-beda di setiap variasinya. Dalam pengujian ini, digunakan beberapa variasi kondisi yang nantinya
akan di analisis efektifitasnya. Hasil dari pengujian eksperimental diperoleh persentase efektifitas penggunaan
drainase kerikil horizontal yang berikan per tiap variasi. Persentase efektifitas dari variasi pertama adalah sebesar
46,67 %. Persentase efektifitas dari variasi kedua adalah sebesar 43,33%. Persentase efektifitas dari variasi
ketiga adalah sebesar 30%. Persentase efektifitas dari variasi keempat adalah sebesar 30%. Sehingga dapat
ditarik kesimpulan bahwa penerapan variasi-variasi perkuatan pada pengujian tersebut telah berhasil mereduksi
penurunan pasir daripada penurunan model rumah pada pasir lepas dan jenuh tanpa perkuatan. Hasil dari
penelitian ini diharapkan mampu menjadi alternatif perkuatan tanah untuk mencegah dampak likuifaksi.

THE EFFECT OF THE USE OF HORIZONTAL DRAINAGE OF GRAVEL TOWARDS SOIL
REDEMPTION AND HOUSE MODELS DUE TO LIQUIFACTION

ABSTRACT
Natural disasters in the form of an earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction that occurred in Palu City on
September 28, 2018 have caused enormous damage and loss of life. Based on this incident, the Palu City
Government took the initiative to take preventive measures in the form of land improvement in order to reduce
the impact of damage caused if a similar incident occurred in the future. This study aims to determine how
effective horizontal gravel drainage is in reducing soil deformation caused by liquefaction as an alternative that
meets technical and economic requirements.
The test was carried out using a shaking table filled with saturated sand to create a liquefaction
simulation. Horizontal drainage modeling uses gravel that is placed into the sand with different depths in each
variation. In this test, several variations of conditions are used which will later be analyzed for their
effectiveness. The results of the experimental test obtained the percentage of the effectiveness of the use of
horizontal gravel drainage that was given per each variation. The percentage of effectiveness of the first variation
is 46.67%. The percentage of effectiveness of the second variation is 43.33%. The percentage of effectiveness of
the third variation is 30%. The percentage of effectiveness of the fourth variation is 30%. So it can be concluded
that the application of reinforcement variations in the test has succeeded in reducing sand settlement than the
decrease in the house model on loose and saturated sand without reinforcement. The results of this study are
expected to be an alternative for soil reinforcement to prevent the impact of liquefaction.
