Abstract

ABSTRACT
Aulia Inara (2020). This Skripsi is entitled “Using Flashcards to Develop Vocabulary Mastery of the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Sindue”. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Rofiqoh.

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of flashcards can develop vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Sindue or not. The researcher applied a quasi experimental research design. The sample of this research was selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used to collect data was a test on vocabulary. The test was administered twice for pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference of the students’ scores in pretest and posttest. The results of data analysis for experimental group indicate that the mean score of the pretest is 46.25 while the mean score of the posttest is 77.36. For the control group, the mean score of pretest is 50.23 and the posttest is 57.04. by applying 0.05 level of significance with the degree of freedom (df) 38, it shows that the t-counted value (4.38) is higher than the t-table value (2.0252). Conclusion, the use of Flashcards can develop the students’ vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Sindue.
