Soneta Puji Lestari (A12115084). This research entitled “Using Start with Simple Story (SSS) Method to Improve Reading Comprehension of Grade XI Students of SMA Negeri 2 Dampelas.â€Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University.Under the supervision of Sudarkam R. Mertosono.
The objective of the research was to find out whether using Start with Simple Story (SSS) can improve reading comprehension of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Dampelas. The researcher used quasi-experimental research design in which the samples of the research were IPA2 as the experimental group and IPA1 as the control group. The instrument of data collection was the test which was administered as pretest and posttest. The result of the pretest and posttest were analyzed statistically. The results of the data analysis showed that the mean scores of the experimental group improved significantly from 55.52 to 70.08.Furthermore, referring to the ttable value of df 48 (25+25-2) by applying 0.05 level of significance on one-tailed test, it was found that the tcounted value of this research (4.9) is higher than the ttable value (1.68).It means that using Start with Simple Story (SSS) can improve reading comprehension of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Dampelas.
