Domestic wastewater has a very high level of organic matter content because it comes from the washing process, food preparation, bathroom waste water. The high content of organic matter in wastewater can cause environmental pollution. Environmental issues of concern in domestic wastewater parameters Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Ammonia (NH3). These conditions allow wastewater treatment in an integrated wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), but on the other hand the operational costs are very high and the operating system is complicated. This led to innovations regarding wastewater treatment with an artificial wetland system to treat domestic wastewater with BOD, COD and ammonia parameters. This study uses artificial wetland media using water hyacinth and mother-in-law's tongue as many as 4 clumps of plants each in the reactor tub. The study aims to see the Retentions Time of 3, 6, and 9 days from the most effective treatment in reducing BOD, COD and ammonia parameters. The results showed a decrease after treatment BOD day 0 amounted to 4.25mg/L, day 3 39.5 mg/L, day 6 28.15mg/L and day 9 23.7mg/L, COD, 0 amounted to 177mg/L, day 3150.5 mg/L, day 6 130.5mg/L and day 9 119.5mg/L and Ammonia obtained results <0.05mg/L and after treatment showed at <0.05mg/L results.
