Permasalahan Dalam Berbicara Ditemukan Pada Prestasi Siswa (kasus Di Kelas Delapan SMP NEGERI 9 PALU)

This skripsi entitled Problems in Speaking Found in Students’ Performance (A Case at The Eight Grade of Smp Negeri 9 Palu), Skripsi, English Education Study Program Department of Language and Art Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. It is under supervision of Sriati Usman and Muhammad Arid.
This research intends to find out the factors of the problem that contribute to students’ performance in speaking English, specifically students’ performance from junior high school 9 Palu in year 2023/2024. This research is conducted based on main problems that is what are the problems in speaking found in students’ performance? To answer the question, the researcher collect the data from 6 different students on interview and observation in class for 2 weeks. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method. This study’s findings show that problems in their speaking performance are driven by 2 factors that are language competence and psychological factor. Those issues are lack of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. It is also found that students have problems such as (1) fear of making mistakes (2) anxiety (shyness, hesitation), (3) lack of confidence.
