PROBLEMS FACED BY GRADE EIGHT STUDENTS’ OF SMPN 19 PALU IN SPEAKING SKILL/ (MASALAH YANG DIHADAPI SISWA KELAS DELAPAN SMPN 19 PALU DALAM KEMAMUAN BERBICARA)

ABSTRACT

IDZAR GIFFARI (A 121 17 270). This Skripsi is entitled, PROBLEMS FACED
BY GRADE EIGHT STUDENTS’ OF SMPN 19 PALU IN SPEAKING SKILL,
Skripsi, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language and Art Education
Department, English Education Study Progra, under the supervision of Sriati Usman.

This study aims to find out what problems are faced by the students of SMPN 19 Palu in learning speaking. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research design. The sample was 20 of the grade eight students. The data were collected by used interviews for teachers and questionnaires for students. The data was processed by using a formula to get the student frequency results. Based on the results of the data process, it was found that there were many problems in the speaking learning process, in this case speaking fluency from the perspective of students and teachers. The problems were lack of practice in speaking, low of interest in learning speaking, less of attention, pandemic problems that make the learning process at home ineffective, obstacles in internet access, playing online games more often than studying. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that there were many problems experienced by the grade eight students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu in speaking.
