This study aims to describe the mathematic communication ability of students in grade VII C at SMP Negeri 10 Palu with high and low math abilities on social arithmetic materials. This type of research is qualitative research. The subject of this study were two students in grade VII C at SMP Negeri 10 Palu in the even semester of the 2019/2020. Two students selected as research subject consisted of a student with high and low math abilities. Data were collected by means of test and interview methods. The result of this study include, students with high math abilities: (1) can state the information contained in the questions given, (2) can explain mathematical ideas in working on problems orally or in writing, and (3) can conclude the results of the answer in working on the question given either orally or in writing, while students with low math ability: (1) less precise in stating the information contained in the questions given, (2) less precise in explaining mathematical ideas in working on problems orally or in writing, and (3) cannot conclude the results of the answer in working on the question given either orally or in writing.
