Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) Describe the conceptual knowledge profile of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu who have high mathematical skills in solving integer mixed calculation operation problems, (2) Describe the conceptual knowledge profile of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu who have low mathematical skills in solving integer mixed calculation operation problems, (3) Describe the procedural knowledge profile of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu who are High mathematical skills in solving integer mixed calculation operation problems, (4) Describe the procedural knowledge profile of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu who have low mathematical skills in solving integer mixed calculation operation problems. This type of research is descriptive research. The subjects in this study were 2 students taken from 32 grade VIIC students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu. The results of this study show that (1) The conceptual knowledge profile of high-ability students is able to understand mathematical concepts, able to mention the nature of mathematical principles and the relationships between them, and able to model concepts and translate them into denotations and ideas. (2) The conceptual knowledge profile of low-ability students is being able to understand mathematical concepts. (3) The procedural knowledge profile of high-ability students is able to determine the steps needed to solve a problem, able to sequence an action in solving a problem, and able to explain or justify a way to solve a given problem. (4) The procedural knowledge profile of low-ability students is unable to show the procedural knowledge profile in solving integer mixed calculation operation problems.
