TANTANGAN YANG DIHADAPI GURU BAHASA INGGRIS SMP MELALUI KELAS ONLINE (STUDI KASUS SMP NEGERI 9 PALU)

This research aims to find out the challenges faced by English Teachers of SMP Negeri 9 Palu through an online class, and the strategies to overcome them. This research used a case study design through the descriptive method. The subjects of this research were English Teachers. The researcher conducted direct interviews and online questionnaires in obtaining data. The results of the research indicate that the challenges faced by teachers online class are, Network constraints, limited internet quota, not all students have a gadget, students’ interest in learning, difficult to teach the Characters to the students, and setting time. Thereafter, teachers’ strategies used to overcome them which were home visits, carry out offline learning, the applicability of different platforms, teaching's method adjustment, and implementation of several policies and teacher's efforts such as a give advice and warning, simplify and provide material in advance, and additional time. In this research, through the challenges, teachers hope that the teaching and learning process will be normal soon.
