Tika pryhasti yanti (A 121 12 022). “The Effect Of PORPE Strategy In Reading Comprehension Of Eighth Grade Students At SMP Negeri 13 Palu”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Deparment Teacher Traning and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under supervision Sriati Usman (1) and Mashuri (II).

The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not the use of PORPE strategy can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade student at SMP Negeri 13 Palu. The researcher applied a quasi experimental research design using pre test and post test. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Palu and the research sample were VIII D(31 students) as the experimental group, while VIII A(31 students) as the control group. The data were colected by using pre test and post test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used 0.05 level of significance and 64 degree of fredom (df). The researcher found t-countedvalue (2.290) was greater than t-tablevalue (2.000). it means that the hypothesis was accepted. Based on the result, it can be concluded that using PORPE Strategy is effective to improve the reading comprehension skill of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Palu.
