ABSTRACT
Humaira. M (A 121 17 198). The Implementation of Mind Mapping Technique
in Improving Writing Skill of The Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 5
Palu. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education
Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University,
under supervision of Jamiluddin and Muhammad Arid.
This study aims to find out whether or not the use of Mind Mapping technique can
improve writing skill of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Palu. The
research applied quasi-experimental design. The samples of this study were 27
students in class VIII A as the experimental group and 27 students in class VIII C
as the control group. They were selected by purposive sampling technique. The
research instrument utilized to collect the data was a test that was separated into
a pre-test and a post-test. The result of the test was analyzed statistically by
applying T-test using degree of freedom (df) 52 and 0.05 of the significance level.
This research indicates that the t-counted value (6.41) is higher than the t-table
(2.0084). In other words, the hypothesis of this research is accepted. In
conclusion Mind Mapping Technique can improve writing skill of the eight grade
students of SMP Negeri 5 Palu.
