Upacara Ngaben : Antara Kasih Dan Prestise

The purpose of this study was to reveal the meaning of cost of the “ngaben” ceremony in perspective of the overseas Balinese community. This research is a qualitative with phenomenology as methodology. The data used in this study is primary data collected from interviews with 5 informants. Informants are determined by several predetermined criteria. The results of the study stated that the cost of carrying out the Ngaben ceremony in the perspective of the overseas Balinese people in Sausu Taliabo Village has 2 meanings of the cost of each sacrifice incurred, namely to gain prestige and as a form of love, all of which are conceptualized in one meaning, namely happiness. This is what triggers the community to continue to preserve the Ngaben ceremony.
