The research aims at increasing students’ ability in using to be through
transformational drill. The subject of the research was the Grade VIII of SMP
Negeri 1 Pasangkayu. The research was classroom action research which was
conducted in two cycles where each cycle consisted of planning, implementation,
observation and reflection. The data of this research were obtained from the
results of the test and observation sheet during the implementation of the action.
The finding of the research shows that transformational drill is effective in
increasing students’ ability in using to be. The effectiveness of transformational
drill was shown by the improvement of the students’ score. The findings revealed
that in cycle 2 meeting 2 all the students already achieved the minimum criteria of
achievement. It means that the obtained achievement was 100%. The obtained
achievement was based on the number of students who have met the criteria of
success.
