IMPROVING PRONUNCIATION ABILITY OF CONSONANT SOUNDS

The objective of this research is to find out that the application of English songs as a teching technique can improve the students’ pronunciation ability at SMP Negeri 6 Palu. The problem of this research focused on the students’ difficulties in pronouncing dental and alveopalatal sounds. The researcher used quasi experimental group design in conducting this research. There were two groups which became the sample of this research, VII G and VII I were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The researcher only used test as technique of data collection. In analyzing the data, the researcher used 0.05 level of significance and degree of freedom (df) was 55, then it presented that tcounted (20.27) is higher than ttable (2.006). Thus, the researcher concluded that the application of English songs as a teaching technique can improve the students’ pronunciation ability at SMP Negeri 6 Palu.
