Abstract

Dei Santi S. Mayusa (A 121 15 179). This skripsi entitled “Improving the
Ability of the Seventh Grade Students of SMP NEGERI 19 PALU in Using
Simple Present Tense through Inductive Approach”. English Education Study
Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and
Education Faculty, Tadulako University, 2019.
The objective of this research is to find out the use of inductive approach
could improve the ability of the seventh grade students of SMP NEGERI 19
PALU in using simple present tense. This research applied quasi experimental
research which consists of two groups, namely experimental and control group.
The population of this research was grade VIIa as the control group consisting of
23 students and grade VIId as the experimental group consisting of 23 students.
The instrument of the data collection used in this research is test. There are two
tests in this research, pre-test and post-test. Both of the tests were given to both
groups. The data of this research was analyzed statistically. After analyzing the
data, the researcher found that there is significant difference between the score of
experimental group and control group. The score of experimental group is higher
than control group. Therefore, t-counted (6.70) is higher than t-table (1.680). In
other words, inductive approach can improve the ability of the seventh grade
students of SMP NEGERI 19 PALU in using simple present tense.
