TEACHING WRITING THROUGH GUIDING QUESTIONS TECHNIQUE TO THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 1 PASANGKAYU

Fitriani Reg. Number: A 121 08 003. The skripsi is entitled “Teaching Writing through Guiding Questions Technique to the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu” under the supervisions of Hj. Sriati Usman and Budi. The objective of conducting this research was to prove whether or not the use of guiding questions technique could improve the ability of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu in writing descriptive paragraphs. This research employed a true-experimental research design that involved two groups, experimental group and control group. The population of this research was the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu. The sample of this research was selected by using cluster sampling. The instruments of data collection were pre-test and post-test which were given to the research sample. The data were analyzed by using statistical analysis in order to find out the significant difference of the achievement of the students in pre-test and post-test. The result of data analysis showed that t-counted (5.93) was greater than the value of t-table (2.02) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) 41. It means that the use of the guiding questions technique could significantly improve the ability of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pasangkayu in writing descriptive paragraph. In conclusion, guiding questions technique can be used to improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraph.
