Abstract
Nabila Khalifatul Jannah, A 121 20 137. “The Use of Listen-And-Draw Technique to Improve Listening Comprehension of The Eighth Grade Students of Smp Negeri 1 Banawa Tengah”. Skripsi. English Education Study Progam, Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Aminah and Budi.
This research aims to determine whether the use of the Listen and Draw technique can improve the listening comprehension skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Tengah. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. Class VIII B was assigned as the experimental group and Class VIII A as the control group. Both groups were given a pretest and posttest to assess their listening comprehension. The experimental group received treatment using the Listen and Draw technique over six sessions, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through objective tests and analyzed using statistical formulas, including mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results showed that the experimental group had a significant improvement in their listening scores, with a mean posttest score of 47, compared to 33 in the control group. The t-test result (t-count = 9.97) was higher than the t-table value (0.0195), indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. It can be concluded that the Listen and Draw technique is effective in improving students’ listening comprehension. Therefore, this technique is recommended as an alternative strategy in teaching listening, especially in junior high school contexts.
