Abstract

Syaeful Syam, L13121103, Effect of Media and Storage Time
On the Viability of Matoa (Pometia pinnata) Seeds. Supervised by Yusran
and Goddess Wahyuni.
Matoa (Pometia pinnata) is a tropical plant that is often found
in eastern Indonesia such as Papua, Maluku and Sulawesi. In activities
Forest and Land Rehabilitation (RHL), matoa plays an important role as a source
planting material for reforestation and germplasm preservation. Apart from being valuable
Ecologically, this plant also has high economic value because of its fruit
sweet and popular with the public. The objectives of this research are: 1) find out
the effect of storage media on the viability of matoa seeds, 2) know
the effect of storage time on the viability of matoa seeds, 3) find out
the influence of the interaction between storage media and storage time on
matoa seed viability.
This research uses the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method
factorial with two factors, namely storage media (M) 4 levels and time
storage (W) 3 levels, resulting in 12 treatment combinations, each
each was repeated 5 times, a total of 60 experimental units. Observed parameters
including water content, germination capacity, and germination speed. If results
analysis of variance showed a real effect, a further BNT test was carried out on
test level 5%.
The results obtained from this research are the storage media factor (M),
storage time (W), as well as the interaction of storage media and storage time
(MW) has a significant influence on the water content of matoa seeds.
However, on the parameters of germination and germination speed, only
has a significant effect on the interaction factors of storage media and storage time
an. The best treatment for water content parameters is M3W2 (Aluminum foil
without cocopeat + 3 days storage), germination power M4W3 (Aluminium
foil + cocopeat + Storage 6 days), and germination speed M1W1
(plastic clip without cocopeat + 0 day storage)
