The purpose of this study was to determine the work motivation of the State Civil Servants at the Primary Tax Office in Palu City. The basis of this research is descriptive qualitative, the number of informants 5 people consisting of several sub heads. Section, section chiefs and staff. The collection of data and materials was carried out through informants who were accompanied by observations, interviews, and documentation. Using interactive model data analysis by miles and huberman. This study uses 5 indicators in Mc Clelland's view, namely: The need for achievement, the need for affiliation, and the need for power.
The results show that the work motivation of the State Civil Servants at the Primary Tax Office of Palu City has been going well, this is evidenced from the reality in the field that the motivation function is running well because the level of discipline and focus of the State Civil Apparatus in carrying out their duties and responsibilities is very high. State Civil Servants at the Palu City Primary Tax Office are motivated by strict regulations, firm bosses and appreciation and awards given by the Office. However, from every aspect of the existing needs, not all of them can work well because the affiliation needs of the state civil servants have not been implemented properly, this is evidenced by the attitude of employees who are indifferent and reluctant to consult other employees when they are constrained by the assignment given. and there are still state civil servants who are afraid or reluctant to communicate directly with their superiors. due to the boss's firm attitude and demands to focus on completing his duties and work.
